Welcome to the Valuation Office – Ireland’s State Valuation service since 1830

Welcome to the Valuation Office website. The core business of the Office is the provision of accurate, up-to-date valuations of commercial and industrial properties to ratepayers and rating authorities, as provided by the Valuation Act 2001. Our valuations are integral to the commercial rating system in Ireland, and form the basis for some €1.3 billion of Local Authority funding each year.
The Office is currently engaged in a national programme to revalue all commercial and industrial properties in Ireland. The purpose of this National Revaluation programme is to reflect modern rental values in the valuation system used by all local authorities as the basis for commercial rates. This will take account of changes and movements in property values over time and the programme will bring more uniformity and transparency into the local authority rating system.
Our website has undergone a major redesign and the layout now contains several new features intended to make the site faster, more intuitive and easier to navigate. We’ve restructured and streamlined the information and upgraded our online services and we hope that you find the new design to your satisfaction.
We will continue to improve and update the site on an ongoing basis. Meanwhile, if you have any comments or suggestions, or if you see a broken link or feel that something should be reviewed or enhanced, please bring this to our attention by contacting our webmaster.
As part of the Government’s programme of rationalisation of State bodies, the Valuation Office is in the course of merging with the Property Registration Authority and Ordnance Survey Ireland. When the new organisation, known as Tailte Éireann, is established it will be responsible for providing the authoritative property registration system, national mapping and surveying infrastructure and property valuation service for the State. As such, it will be the primary national source of property information and geo-spatial data and will be a leader in the development and delivery of land information services.
