We have processed all the valid Community Childcare applications that we received by the closing date. Any outstanding Community Childcare applications for rates exemption can continue to be lodged to the Valuation Office during 2016.
The Valuation Office is implementing new provisions of the Valuation (Amendment) Act 2015, which came into effect on 8th June 2015, in connection with Community Childcare facilities. The Act amends Schedule 4, paragraph 22 of the Valuation Act 2001 and provides a new exemption from commercial rates for such properties. The Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DYCA) has written to each Community Childcare Provider who is eligible for exemption informing them of the new provision.
You are advised to submit a copy of the letter you have received from DCYA together with your Valuation Office ‘Property Number’ to gain exemption from paying commercial rates. Your Valuation Office ‘Property Number’ can be obtained from your rates bill, from your local authority rates department, or from the Valuation Office website at www.valoff.ie using the “NAV Direct” search function. You can ignore this letter if your property has never been rated for commercial rates –this can be clarified for you by your local authority rates department.
Please submit your application including the exemption letter and property number to the Valuation Office before 12th October 2015. There is no fee for this application.
